Svenska Bostäder is a municipal housing company founded in 1944. The company is owned by Stockholms stad through the parent company Stockholms Stadshus AB. According to the company, the portfolio comprises approximately 28,000 apartments, and its subsidiary AB Stadsholmen also manages just over 1,600 homes in heritage properties.

The homes are located across Stockholm, covering Innerstaden, Söderort, Västerort and Järva. Neighbourhoods include Södermalm, Kungsholmen, Norra Djurgården, Råcksta, Västberga and Husby. The offer consists mainly of standard rental flats, but the company also provides student accommodation, youth housing and senior housing.

Over the past year, 2,285 apartments were advertised with the landlord at an average rent of SEK 8,085 a month. Rents ranged from a minimum rent of SEK 1,718 to a maximum rent of SEK 21,408. Of the advertised apartments, 82 per cent had a lift and 59 per cent had a balcony.

Svenska Bostäder does not have its own general housing queue. Apartments are allocated through Bostadsförmedlingen in Stockholm based on queue time, and over the past year 65 per cent of the company's listings had queue requirements.
